EPC Visit

OSR Physical Therapy is proud to become a member of the Eden Prairie Chamber of Commerce.  It was great to meet everyone today, answer questions about OSR and learn about some of the other businesses.

Here are some photos from our meet and greet this afternoon.
Here is a group shot as we received our welcome kit.

Mound Westonka Activities News

We are pleased to support our Mound Westonka Athletes. If you want to read more about Mound Westonka Activities here is a link to their November newsletter.

As selected by the school and posted in their newsletter, here is the Mound Westonka OSRPT Performer of the month. Congratulations on these achievements!

We are proud to name senior Paige Beyer the October OSR Physical Therapy Performer of the Month!
Paige Beyer
Name: Paige Beyer, senior
Parents: Robert and Kristen Beyer
Activities: Varsity Swim, Student Senate, NHS, DECA, Track & Field, Link Crew
Achievements: Around the pool...Paige helped lead the Mound Westonka-Holy Family Swim & Dive team to an undefeated dual meet record! On Oct. 2, she led off the 400-yard freestyle relay against Marshall; this relay broke our pool record with a time of 3:48.84! In addition to an undefeated season, MWHF finished in second place at the Wright County Conference Championship! This was ahuge improvement from last year, when MWHS finished 6th and Holy Family finished 8th. Paige was also named All-Conference!
Quote from Coach/Advisor: "Without Paige's contributions--leadership, sportsmanship and dedication to success--this close meet would not have been the same. Congratulations, Paige for all of your successes this year both in the pool and around school!" -Assistant Swim Coach Kristyn Kallas

Follow up to Chaska High School Lecture

I had the opportunity to present on different health and injury topics at Chaska High School. I wanted to write a follow up post with links and more information on the topics we discussed.

Concussions:
We talked about leading causes for concussions and prevention. Here is a great video on concussions and gaining awareness by the National Athletic Trainers' Association
VIDEO

ACL Injuries:
ACL injuries can be somewhat prevented. We went over a simple test to see if your at risk for an ACL injury. If your knee caves in when you jump here is a great exercise for you to try:

Ankle/Lower Leg Injuries Injuries:
There was some great discussion about ankle sprains and shin splints. If you are continuing to get shin splints after your conditioned for your sport, surface and wearing appropriate shoes here are some things to try.

For those of you interested in furthering your career in an Allied Health Care profession, here are some links to different resources I would recommend:
National Athletic Trainers' Association
American Physical Therapy Association

I want to thank your for your time last week and now and good luck in your future career choices!
